Angelino originally joined the Manchester City youth system in 2013 from Deportivo La Coruna, and went out on a series loans away from the Premier League club.
First he went to the City Football Group destinations in New York and Girona, and then to Mallorca and NAC Breda, before making a permanent exit to PSV Eindhoven.
Clearly still having some faith in the fullback, Manchester City agreed to sell Angelino to PSV in June 2018 for a modest price, as long as they could insert a buyback clause in the deal.
That clause was used in July 2019, and the situation came as a disappointment to the Dutch club as they’d seen Angelino progress with them since the previous summer.
Back at Manchester City, minutes were hard to come by, so the 23 year old Spaniard has been sent out on loan again, this time to RB Leipzig.
It was a deadline deal and he’s only been presented today, with some words shared with the local German media.
Kicker quote the player as saying: “I didn’t get many chances in the last club, so I had to look for new chances. It is great for me to have this opportunity. The club’s career in recent years has fascinated me.”
RB Leipzig have a buying clause, and despite various numbers being published as the figure, Kicker reports both clubs have agreed to keep the amount a secret.
There’s no loan fee for the Bundesliga side to pay.
