Pione Sisto has had an up and down career, perhaps not quite hitting the heights some expected of him.

At one point, he was linked with a move to West Ham but a potential transfer never materialised. The winger later joined Celta Vigo and had played over 100 times for the Spanish side.

Now at Greek club Aris, Sisko spoke to TipsBladet about a lot of things regarding his career and was asked about the potential move to West Ham that never went through.

The 29-year-old said he looks back on that decision often but has made peace with the choices he made.

“There are times when I can sit down and think: ‘Why did you do that?’. For example, when I was on my way to Celta Vigo, West Ham were interested.

“Maybe I could have earned more money at West Ham and played in the Premier League.”

He went on to say that what happened in his career transpired for a reason, even if a move to West Ham may have been more lucrative.

“It is only later that you find out why you did what you did. Sometimes you don’t know until later. This is how I deal with life and in the end it all makes sense. It all happens for a reason.”

He also took his career decisions upon himself, instead of blaming his entourage and advisors for them.

The Dane said: “These have been choices that I have made and believed were the right ones. Sometimes it’s right, sometimes it’s wrong, and then you learn from it for the next time.

“I can’t lose unless I make a mistake, ignore it and make the same mistake. In the end, it’s me.”

A mature way of looking at it, but there were certainly some questionable decisions in the player’s career, and snubbing West Ham may have been one of them.
