Marcelo Bielsa’s future will always be under the spotlight, with the manager having many fans around world football.
Having done a great job with Leeds United, he’s caught even more attention and that’s seen links to jobs across the globe. Having managed the likes of the Whites, Marseille and Athletic Club Bilbao, Bielsa has a record of working with clubs who like to see themselves as a little different, with strong support and big culture off the pitch.
If transferring such a stance to Italy, then Napoli would be a good example, and it just so happens they’re expected to be looking for a new manager in the summer.
Currently fifth in Serie A, manager Gennaro Gattuso is thought to be heading for the exit, having seen his relationship with Aurelio De Laurentiis struggle in a similar way to previous coaches.
Massimo Grillo, described as a FIFA agent by Per Sempre Napoli, believes the Leeds United manager would be a great fit for the Naples club: “I am a great admirer of Bielsa, currently on the Leeds bench he is a coach who has a very spectacular game system. I would see him really well on the blue bench, I am convinced that he would show captivating football.”
It may well be a great fit, aside from inevitable issues with De Laurentiis, but Bielsa has shown no signs of heading for the exit at Elland Road, so this potential marriage would be something for the longer term.
