Lloyd Kelly joined Juventus from Newcastle United on transfer deadline day.

The Englishman had arrived at St James’ Park in the summer transfer window on a free transfer and the Magpies will make a profit from his sale in the summer of 2025, as Juventus have an obligation to buy Kelly.

It doesn’t seem as if everyone is happy with the Italian club signing the 26-year-old.

Journalist Romeo Agresti has stated his belief that the signing was made because Juve couldn’t get anyone else apart from the ex- Newcastle United player.

He said on his Youtube channel: “Kelly arrives because we were not able to take others, simple, clear and linear. I challenge anyone to deny me, but here we knew from the beginning of October that we would have had to replace Bremer.”

Agresti went on to state that if Kelly had arrived earlier in the transfer window, only then he would have been a priority target.

“If the player arrives immediately it is because he is that [priority]. Among other things I think that in the end what we paid for Kelly on February 3rd was as much as we probably would have paid for him on January 2nd or 3rd.

“So I think you can say everything but I will never believe that Kelly was a priority.”

This is probably a valid belief from Agresti, largely because the Bianconeri had failed in moves for Kevin Danso, Fikayo Tomori and even West Ham’s Jean-Clair Todibo.
