Romanian coach Ovidiu Burcă has revealed he is set to spend time learning from Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham as he looks to develop himself ahead of a potential return to management.
Burcă has been speaking to Orange Sport in Romania about his plans moving forwards and how he is hoping to develop himself in the coming months.
He’s currently out of work after leaving FC Dinamo in November last year, having been in charge of them for 56 games following his arrival in July 2022. That came after a short spell at CSM Slatina.
At 43-years-old, he is very much still in the early days of his managerial career and it seems he’s looking to ensure he learns as much as possible while he can.
That will include a planned trip to spend some time learning under Ange Postecoglou under Tottenham. The Australian coach has been earning plaudits left, right and centre for his work at Spurs this season, turning them into an attractive, attacking team following the disappointment of Antonio Conte’s reign.
He’s very much considered one of the upcoming managers in the game, particularly when his time at Celtic is also factored in, and Burcă is keen to get to London and watch close up.
“I needed this break, but I miss football. I started going to stadiums, to see matches. I would like to go to Tottenham, to see what happens,” he said.
“I have other promises, there is a period when I’m trying to gather new information. I’ve spoken and I can’t wait to go there. The Premier League is the highest level you can see in football.
“He (Postecoglou) is a revolutionary coach, who with a team not at the level of the big and rich manages to stay in the first teams of England. He does some interesting things, and because Radu (Dragusin) went there, it’s easier for us Romanians to make contact with that environment.”
