With eight goals and four assists in 25 appearances, Jérémie Boga’s season at Sassuolo hasn’t gone unnoticed.
Sold to the Serie A club by Chelsea two years ago, the Ivory Coast international has found a new lease of life in Italy, which has attracted a lot of attention.
There has been a lot of talk regarding a potential return to Stamford Bridge thanks to a buy-back clause inserted by the Premier League club, which would facilitate any transfer back to England.
However, there has been little indication that Chelsea would want to trigger it, meaning other clubs could come forward and start their own negotiations.
On Thursday, Calciomercato had a brief chat with Boga’s agent, who revealed he had held talks with Napoli, Atalanta and other European sides regarding a possible move for his client, as well as admitting a transfer to Milan could be an interesting one.
The Italian website then asked whether or not he thought Chelsea would exercise their right to buy him back.
He replied: “This, at the moment, I can’t tell you”.
That’s a rather coy answer from the representative, who either hasn’t heard from Chelsea about it or doesn’t want to divulge anything in case they have.
Either way, it’s not a no, but it’s also not a yes.
