Ahead of Arsenal’s Champions League clash against PSV tonight, TNT Sports managed to have a word with Gunners’ star Gabriel Jesus.
Since the 26-year-old has been getting little time on the pitch this season, the South American outlet started by asking him about the competition for a place in the Gunners’ attack.
Gabriel Jesus explained his injuries have been the main reason for him being sidelined, and he’s working hard to get his place back.
“Well, I think injuries happen. And it happened to me at a time when I was doing very well, which was close to the World Cup, I was coming off a good season with Arsenal,” Jesus told TNT Sports.
The Brazilian was also asked about the difference between Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, and pointed out two main characteristics that make their teams different.
“Basically, some things are similar. However, the larger context is a little different. This is a very young team, it’s a team that puts more pressure on, I think, when they lose the ball. I think these are differences.”
Gabriel Jesus started the season recovering from a knee injury. He only had one minute against Fulham, 14 more against Manchester United, where he scored a beautiful goal, and 24 against Everton.
The Champions League debut against PSV is now a great opportunity for him to show Mikel Arteta he’s fully fit and ready for a place in the starting team in the Premier League, where the Gunners are currently 4th.
