There was a time when Arsenal were said to be interested in Fabian Ruiz, currently under contract at Napoli.

The Gunners are reportedly interested in the Spanish midfielder, but it remains to be seen if they make a move for him in the near future.

What is clear is that Ruiz wants to leave the Serie A side, as reiterated by journalist Paolo Bargiggia, who spoke to 1 Football Club, relayed by CalcioNapoli24.

Touching on the future of the midfielder, he was asked whether an exit could be a valid solution, which is when he brought the interest from Arsenal back up.

He said: “The club is, in fact, having a tough approach with Fabian. The latter earns about €1.8m, his agents have never made a renewal request, but if they had to, they would certainly ask for a contract extension with a higher salary.

“The player, however, wants to leave the team, so Napoli will listen to important offers, or he will probably be relegated to the bench, as he’ll be excluded from the club’s project. I bring back the interest from Arsenal and Juventus, even if the Bianconeri cannot make proposals worth €30-40m.”

Bargiggia then explains that while Ruiz wants a return to La Liga, where he excelled at Real Betis, he has yet to receive any official offers from his native land.

That leaves the door open for Arsenal if they still want him, and the journalist seems to suggest they do.
