RB Salzburg striker Karim Konaté has revealed his love for Liverpool as he discussed where he may like to play later in his career.
The 19-year-old has been speaking to Actu Foot Afrique, relayed by RMC Sport, about his career and where it may take him in future.
He is currently with Salzburg in Austria, having joined them in a €3.5m deal from ASEC Mimosas in July last year.
He was immediately loaned out to FC Liefering in the second division after his arrival and made a huge impression, scoring 14 goals and registering three assists in 17 games in the 2. Liga.
Those numbers saw him quickly called back by Salzburg at the end of December to be a part of their squad, with him bagging one goal in four games in the Austrian Bundesliga so far.
He’s very much one to keep an eye on in the coming years, particularly as Salzburg has proven to be something of a breeding ground for strikers over the last decade.
He’s not thinking about a move just yet but will admit he has a certain affinity for three clubs in particular, and Liverpool are of them.
“Lyon is my flagship club,” he said.
“I also like Liverpool and Barça, but Lyon remains the first of the first. Lyon is the heart; it does not move. The blood is Red and Blue.
“I chose Salzburg. It was the best choice given their past with African players, and in order to develop myself.
“They (the Salzburg leaders) came to Abidjan and then invited me to visit the facilities, I thought this was the club for me.”
