Dutch winger Anco Jansen is still upset for missing out on his chance to join Scottish side Celtic back in 2013.
The 29-year-old, who currently plays for Emmen in the Dutch Eredivisie, has spoken to RTV this week, and complained about what happened in the summer market four years ago.
“I was already in Glasgow. That’s a black chapter of my football career. It was taken away from me. I can still get very angry about it,” said a clearly still annoyed Jansen (via Soccer News).
Celtic were trying to sign Jansen from De Graafschap at the time.
It was a big thing in the Dutch media as the player’s agent spoke out on the situation, saying the Hoops wanted a €120k loan deal with an option to buy of €420k six months later.
The interesting outcome is that Jansen ended up being sold to Roda JC in January 2014, and only for €250k.
So he missed the chance to join a big European club, and De Graafschap could have made much more money if they’d have gone with the player’s wishes and allowed a move to the Scottish Premiership side.
Instead of potentially playing for Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, Jansen has to make do with Emmen.
