On Friday, the transfer window in England closed, but Hull City still want to add a player to their squad. That’s at least what journalist Sacha Tavolieri is reporting.

He took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to state that Hull City are working to sign Steven Alzate.

The midfielder has been without a club since leaving Brighton & Hove Albion as a free agent in the summer. This allows Hull City or another club to sign him for free outside the transfer window.

According to the journalist, the 25-year-old is keen on joining the Championship.

The Tigers have made firm progress in securing the 25-year-old’s services. In another post on X, Tavolieri claims the South American carried out medical tests with Hull City on Wednesday afternoon.

He further adds Tim Walter’s side should make the free signing official ‘in the next 24 hours’.

The player spent the last two seasons on loan at Standard Liège. Brighton signed him from Leyton Orient in 2017 and he made 51 appearances in all competitions for them.

Alzate’s experience of playing in England could help him settle in quickly at Hull City.
