Hull City midfielder Ozan Tufan has detailed how the club are strict with penalties for various issues, something which appears to be a new experience to him.

The Hull star has been speaking in Turkey today, with his comments relayed by Sports Digitale, about life at the club and football in general.

He’s been with Hull since 2022, joining in a €3m move from Fenerbahce to start a second spell in England after a previous, unsuccessful loan spell at Watford.

Tufan has been a big hit at the club since his arrival, with 18 goals and two assists in 84 games to date meaning he is just two goals short of the 21 he managed in 182 games for the Turkish side.

He appears to be very happy with life at the club, detailing how he feels far more comfortable than he ever did in his homeland and how that has helped to get the best out of him, something even those close to him have noted.

It seems, though, he’s had to adapt somewhat to life in a different country, particularly when it comes to how English clubs deal with indiscipline.

“In England, the salary budget of every club is clear. That money cannot be touched in any way,” he said.

“Everyone gets their money on the day. At Hull City, we receive our salary on the 28th of every month. If the 28th of the month falls on a Sunday, it is paid on the 26th.

“There is also a very heavy penalty system. When you are late for training, 25% of your salary is deducted. If you repeat this, it is doubled on the match day.

“We gather directly at the stadium. If you are late for the match, 50% of your weekly wage is deducted. We have to wear GPS vests in training. We have to touch them to our bodies. If you do not wear them, 5% of your weekly wage is deducted.”
