Abel Hernandez’s injury from this weekend will leave him out of international duty for Uruguay.
The player suffered a tear in the abductor muscle during the match between Hull City and Southampton, which the home side won 2-1.
Now Ovación Digital are reporting that the player is officially ruled out of Uruguay’s World Cup Qualifiers matches against Ecuador and Chile, which will happen on November 10th and 15h, respectively.
The Uruguayan FA have already released an official statement confirming his release back to Hull City and now the manager Oscar Tabarez is deciding if he’s calling up a replacement or not.
Currently in second place, Uruguay are in a comfortable position to achieve a spot in the 2018 World Cup.
Given the great players they have for the position, Hernandez isn’t a constant player in the national team. He has only three appearances in 2016, having scored one goal.
The striker’s numbers for Hull City this season aren’t very impressive either. One goal and one assist after eleven games.
