Hull City are willing to make a January signing from Portugal, according to local reports.

Newspaper Record writes that the Tigers are interested in Hidemasa Morita, from Santa Clara, and could bring him to the Championship in January.

The outlet sounds optimistic about the move, first claiming the midfielder could be leaving in the coming days, then saying the deal can be done for €5m.

It’s even claimed that Santa Clara’s match against Sporting on Thursday evening may have been his last at the club.

Morita hasn’t been playing in Europe for long. It was in January 2021 that he moved from Kawasaki Frontale to Santa Clara, and ended up having a quick adaptation to the Portuguese League.

This season, he’s had 23 appearances for his club, including six starts in the UEFA Conference League, and that may have been where he caught Hull City’s attention.

Even though Santa Clara feature in the first division, a move to the Championship is often seen as very appealing in those cases.
