Mathys Tel has had a chaotic end to the winter transfer window. For the vast majority of January he didn’t want to leave Bayern Munich, believing he’d get more minutes with the Bundesliga club as the season went on.

Then, for whatever reason, he decided to leave and multiple Premier League clubs came forward. A few days ago, Tottenham Hotspur were said to have agreed a deal worth around €60m with Bayern Munich, and were just waiting for the approval of the player.

That didn’t come as he decided Tottenham wasn’t the club for him and he’d wait for something else. Manchester United were in contact but didn’t want to go anywhere near the figures Spurs had reached.

Now Fabrice Hawkins and Florian Plettenberg are both reporting Mathys Tel has decided to join Tottenham. There’s no reason given for the change of heart, but Tel is now expected to join Spurs… unless of course there’s another deadline day twist on the way in this one.
