Manchester United star Marcus Rashford has surprisingly emerged as an ‘option’ for Barcelona, according to reports.
A shoulder injury kept the forward away from the pitch for the first two months of the season.
The Old Trafford favourite returned to action on October 16th and scored three goals in four matches. However, he has failed to find the back of the net since the end of that month and has struggled to impress in recent outings.
Barca showed interest in the 24-year-old in the past. He could be an option for them in the coming windows as EFE state the England international ‘welcomes the option of signing’ for the Catalan club due to his situation in Manchester.
There is an ‘overbooking of attackers’, meaning the Premier League side have more players than they need up front, and the forward is aware his ‘options to play have been reduced’ this season.
Rashford has made 12 appearances in all competitions, which includes eight starts. He has started the last four league games for United and Ralf Rangnick’s arrival at the club has not impacted his minutes so far.
However, despite the recent evidence suggesting otherwise, EFE are stating the player’s ‘options have reduced’, which is why he ‘begins to test the possibility of leaving’ United.
Rashford’s contract expires in 2023 and the English club retain an option to extend it further by a year.
If he were to decide leaving United, it will surely be a huge shock for a large section of United fans, having watched him come through the youth ranks and provide so much to Manchester’s community and beyond.
