With 20 starts from a possible 23 in Ligue 1, it’s clear that Karl Toko Ekambi is a big part of Peter Bosz’s plans at Lyon.
However, he will have to make do without the Cameroon international for the game against West Ham United in the Europa League.
This last minute setback for Lyon comes as the 29-year-old is still recovering from Covid-19, having already missed the 3-2 win against Angers at the weekend.
Toko Ekambi therefore ‘will not travel’ to face West Ham at London Stadium, per RMC Sport, meaning the French club will be without their second top scorer for an important game.
His absence will be added to Maxence Caqueret’s, who suffered a knee injury in training last week and was subsequently operated on.
Toko Ekambi has been in fine for for Lyon this season, scoring 13 goals and picking up five assists from the left wing in 31 appearances in all competitions.
That means one less threat for David Moyes to worry about, although the West Ham manager might have to adapt his current plans, because someone will be starting in the Cameroonian’s stead.
