Montpellier’s Isaac Mbenza completed a move to Huddersfield Town on a season-long loan deal on deadline day and the English club will have an option to buy him on a permanent deal next summer.
According to France Football, the forward was not the only player the Terriers were targeting from the Ligue 1 on Thursday. They claim the Premier League outfit were also looking at Marseille midfielder Saîf-Eddine Khaoui.
The Paris-born player spent the last season at Troyes, scoring five goals and registering two assists in the league.
David Wagner wanted his side to secure the attacking midfielder’s services on the last day of the window and they were looking to sign him on a loan deal with an option to buy.
Huddersfield were left ‘without success’ in their efforts to sign the 23-year-old, whose future under Rudi Garcia at Stade Vélodrome remains uncertain. The report, however, does not mention why they failed to bring the Tunisian international to Kirklees Stadium.
