According to Turkish newspaper Star, Huddersfield Town have made an attempt to sign Zanka on a loan deal.

The Championship side sold Zanka to Fenerbahce for €2m last summer, but the Danish defender has failed to hold down a regular starting spot in Ersun Yanal’s side.

His costly mistakes and lack of speed have been an issue for Fenerbahce, which could result in a return to Huddersfield Town in this window. Fener are also looking to sign a centre back this month, with the likes of Manchester United’s Marcos Rojo linked with a move to the club.

Zanka has started 15 league games for Fenerbahce but only completed nine, with Yanal regularly substituting him in the second half of matches.

There’s reports in the Turkish press that Zanka is unhappy about this situation and he could join Huddersfield Town on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Denmark international’s contract with Fenerbahce will expire at the end of June 2022.
