Real Madrid were given an advantage in the race for Dean Huijsen, as Bournemouth refused to let Premier League suitors pay in instalments.
That’s according to AS, who say the Spanish giants were handed a payment option by Bournemouth and that is how they sealed the deal.
Huijsen was confirmed as a new Real Madrid player this week, bringing an end to weeks of speculation about a move after his impressive debut season at Bournemouth had suitors lining up across Europe.
A deal has been wrapped up quickly, with Madrid making the definitive move and getting matters done ahead of the competition.
AS say this was made easier by the fact that Bournemouth demanded that Premier League suitors pay his €59.5m release clause in full. There was no option to defer payments.
They instead prefer to sell Huijsen outside of the Premier League and so offered Real Madrid ‘kinder conditions’ for the deal. The Spanish giants will pay the clause to Bournemouth in several instalments.
This is why Madrid have moved this week to wrap up the deal, with Bournemouth proving to be welcoming negotiators to ensure the defender didn’t end up in the Premier League.
