Last month, Fotboll Direkt stated Anel Ahmedhodžić is expected to leave Sheffield United in the summer window.

The centre-back joined the Blades from Malmö FF in 2022, and Atalanta had looked at him when he was at the Swedish club.

That’s according to Tutto Atalanta, who say the Serie A side have rekindled their interest in the Sheffield United player.

La Dea ‘intensify their interest’ in the Bosnia and Herzegovina international as he’s one of the ‘hottest names’ in Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi and sporting director Tony D’Amico’s target list.

It’s claimed the defender’s valuation has dropped to €15-18m after Sheffield United’s relegation, and the Italian club are looking to seal the deal for around €10-12m.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side aren’t the only club interested in the player. Lazio are named as one of Ahmedhodžić’s suitors, and they haven’t made an offer so far.

It’s explained that with the ‘competition intensifying’, Atalanta could decide to quickly step up their efforts to secure a deal for the Sheffield United player.

Atalanta have secured a berth in the Champions League after winning the Europa League last month. Ahmedhodžić can play in Europe’s elite club competition, if he were to join them.
