Manchester United have Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji on their transfer agenda for the summer transfer window.
BVB have agreed a deal for Niklas Süle to join them on a free transfer after this season and his arrival could lead to changes in the club’s back four.
That’s according to Sport1, who say the Switzerland international and Dan-Axel Zagadouhave uncertain futures.
Akanji’s current deal runs down in 2023 and he’s already turned down an initial offer from Dortmund. That proposal included a salary of €9.5m per year and he reportedly wants to earn €12m.
Marco Rose’s side are aware of the centre-back’s qualities, but they have ‘reached certain limits’. As things stand, a ‘farewell in the summer is becoming more and more apparent’.
WAZ earlier reported Dortmund could earn €30m from the player’s sale. These claims are relayed by Sport1, who then mention the Red Devils. It’s claimed that for Akanji, a ‘hot track leads to Manchester United’.
Ralf Rangnick, the English side’s interim manager is a ‘very interested’ in the 26-year-old and the player himself has been ‘dreaming of moving to the Premier League’.
If Akanji were to move to Old Trafford, he will reunite with his ‘good friend’ and former BVB teammate, Jadon Sancho.
