Jules Kounde isn’t the only player Chelsea are trying to take from La Liga in the final days of the window.

Saturday’s edition of AS reports the Blues remain in the picture to sign Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid, with a move to Manchester United now considered very unlikely.

According to the claims, Chelsea have been in talks ‘for days’ over the transfer, and negotiations have now reached a ‘very hot’ stage. Talks are ongoing over a loan, and whether there’d be a purchase option or even an obligation for the London club next summer.

Saul wants to leave Atletico because he’s lost importance under Diego Simeone and is being used as a utility option. He’s played the first two games of the La Liga roughly as a wing-back, and he sees himself more centrally than his manager does.

There seems some will for a deal to be done, and Los Rojiblancos will facilitate it, however, AS also point out that there’s not much time left in the window and it could be that Saul misses out as other tracks are deemed more important.
