Ansu Fati is ‘crazy’ to join Sevilla from Barcelona this summer, with his departure from Brighton looking nailed on.
That’s according to ABC and his father Bori Fati, who has backed the forward to return to his former club should he leave Barcelona again this summer.
The forward is currently on loan at Brighton after joining the Seagulls on loan last summer in the hope of kickstarting his career in England after a difficult few years wrecked by injuries.
That’s not proven to be the case, though, with injuries again taking their toll and limiting him to just 28 appearances in all competitions and 1023 minutes of action in total so far.
That deal is not expected be made permanent nor extended and he is set to return to Barcelona, where it remains to be seen what happens with him.
All indications from Spain have been that they don’t want him back and would instead prefer to sell this summer as they seek to be allowed a one in, one out rule to get around their money issues and La Liga’s wage structure rules.
That’s seen Fati linked with a return to Sevilla, the club where he started his career before joining Barcelona’s youth system in 2012 and who were in the mix for him last year before he eventually joined Brighton instead.
And his father has insisted he would very much like that move, even suggesting it might be on the cards once his spell at Brighton is over.
“He would be crazy to come back. Sevilla is a very big club. Hopefully it can be this summer,” he said.
