The news every Liverpool fan wanted to hear was announced this week, as Philippe Coutinho agreed a new long-term contract at Anfield, keeping him at the club until 2022.

One of the more influential players the club on the pitch over the past season and a half, the 24-year-old has become incredibly important to Jürgen Klopp’s plans, and it would now take a monumental offer for Liverpool to agree to see their star go.

That is, in essence, what Le10 Sport are saying on Friday, with a pair of exclusives on their website regarding the Brazilian forward, as they continue their long running story of Paris Saint-Germain’s interest in the player.

The French website started it off by explaining the only reason Coutinho signed a new contract with Liverpool now was because the Ligue 1 champions had already made a few attempts at signing the player, and maintained contact with his entourage despite seeing their offers rejected.

The plan at Liverpool was always to renew the Brazil international’s contract at some stage, and Paris Saint-Germain’s bids simply accelerated the process.

In their second exclusive, Le10 look at whether there is still a chance for the French side to sign Coutinho in the future, and the bottom line is: yes, if the money is right.

According to them, Coutinho has agreed with Liverpool that if an offer came along that he liked, and Liverpool got the right amount of money, the club wouldn’t stand in his way.

Furthermore, Le10 state there is a clause in the player’s new contract stopping him from signing with another English club, meaning any move would have to be abroad.

Let’s not forget that Luis Suarez signed a new contract with Liverpool at a similar time during the 2013-14 season, only to leave for Barcelona the following summer for a fee nearing £75m.

Could this be a repeat scenario? We’ll have to wait and see.
