Brendan Rodgers left Luis Palma on the bench in Celtic’s 5-1 victory over ŠK Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League on Wednesday.
El Heraldo cover the Celtic manager’s decision to not give minutes to the Honduras international in the European fixture.
Palma has been limited to 46 minutes of action from three games for Celtic this season. He made two starts for his national team during the last international break.
Earlier this month, Honduras manager Reinaldo Rueda insisted it hasn’t been easy for the 24-year-old at Celtic since the start of March. A muscle injury forced the Celtic player to spend a month [between March and April] on the sidelines.
Former Honduras international Julio César de León has come to defend the attacker’s situation at Celtic Park.
“The boy has been recovering from a little knock, let’s hope he gets his act together so he can return to the starting lineup,” he said, as quoted by El Heraldo.
Palma’s compatriot has given him suggestions on how to get out of the difficult situation at Celtic.
“It’s difficult to return to the starting lineup when you get injured, you have enough ability to do so, you have to put in a little more aggression, because today you have to know how to kick, earn respect,” Julio César de León explained.
“The rest, he has the technical quality, the physical part he is unbalanced, he has to do a little more gym, when he manages to get that he will be a starter wherever he is.”
Rueda will be hoping Palma can enjoy regular minutes with Brendan Rodgers’ side before October’s international break.
