Manchester City are ‘closely’ monitoring Nigeria Under 17 international midfielder Samson Tijani, according to Voetbal International.

Part of City’s growth in recent years has seen them focus on securing young talent from around the world to place into their youth systems.

The Blues are regularly linked with youngsters from across the globe, either to develop them into first-team players or to be sold on down the line.

It’s a constant, on-going process and one that sees Manchester City linked to talent in all corners of the world, regardless of where they may be playing.

The latest to be linked is Tijani, with Voetbal International journalist Lentin Goodijk reporting that an unnamed Nigerian scout telling the journalist that Manchester City were keen on the midfielder.

This seemingly occurred in a hotel before Nigeria U17’s meeting with the Netherlands in the FIFA Under 17 World Cup yesterday, which Tijani started in the centre of midfield.

Tijani captains the side but was unable to help his team into the quarter-finals of the tournament, with the Netherlands running out 3-1 winners.

It’s not the first time Tijani has been linked with City, with All Nigeria Soccer reporting their interest in him and teammate Olakunle Olusegun back in May.

According to the website, Manchester City’s plan was to sign both and send them on loan to Girona to secure work permits, so the fact they’re potentially keeping an eye on him is not all that surprising.
