Voetbal International report that Georginio Wijnaldum was on his way to Liverpool’s Melwood training ground on Tuesday, volunteering to go there a day after his country’s match against France.

Whilst it may have been expected that Wijnaldum would have a day off like other player, Voetbal International say he instead will have gone straight to Melwood given the injury worry.

Wijnaldum had to come off for the Netherlands against France with what looked like a thigh injury, and it’s stated the former Newcastle United midfielder suffered a ‘slight hamstring injury’ during the World Cup Qualifier.

Liverpool face Manchester United on Monday in an important Premier League match which has the potential to be crucial for both club’s hopes this season. Losing Wijnaldum, given Jurgen Klopp’s other injury worries, would of course be a blow.

Medical staff at Liverpool will now have to determine the extent of the issue, and how many matches, if any at all, Wijnaldum is set to sit out for.
