Late on Thursday night claims arose that Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Hirving Lozano. Mexico’s Univision reported it as an exclusive, and they said Manchester City would then loan the player to PSV.
Around the same time, Marca’s Mexico site said Lozano is on his way to Europe, with Celta Vigo and PSV leading the chase. Interestingly, Marca’s Spanish version is also reporting a possible move to Vigo.
In the same Marca article, it was pointed out that Miguel Herrera, the coach of Club America (Lozano plays for Pachuca), was the one which first claimed the player was set to sign for Manchester City.
Lozano has said he knows nothing about the Manchester City move, which even if it was happening wouldn’t be the greatest surprise as Lozano may be the last to find out where he’s going. But this has all come from Herrera, with him saying it to Univision to prompt their online article.
Manchester United fans will remember the 21 year old winger, given he was said to be on the verge of signing for them a while ago.
Pachuca, and specifically the club’s president, have been pushing the idea of Manchester United interest for some time, and it’s clear that often things are taken way further than they actually are.

The rumour is so well established that in April Lozano said: “The one I would like most is Manchester (meaning United), I like this club a lot and it’s a very important club.”
Similar could be happening with Manchester City, or Miguel Herrera could simply have fabricated the whole thing. What is clear is that when the time came for Lozano to move to Europe, and that time may be now, it was always going to be a complete mess of rumours.
It’s worth noting that Univision played a big part in the Hirving Lozano to Manchester United rumours.
