FC Dallas forward Ricardo Pepi has revealed he would love to join Chelsea, with a move to Europe very much now in his plans.
Pepi has emerged as one of the most exciting talents in the MLS over the last year, with 11 goals in 14 games for North Texas Soccer Club and 16 in 55 for Dallas.
This season he’s been one of the stars of the show, with 13 goals and two assists in 27 games to his name so far.
His form has not gone unnoticed in Europe, with several sides thought to be keen on bringing him across the pond in the near future.
One of those are Ajax, who, as you will know, have a long history of picking up talent from around the world that they can develop.
Pepi certainly fits into that bill, and he has confirmed that the rumours of their interest are true, but he would actually like a move to a big club like Chelsea.
“It would be good for both my family and me to play in Europe,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.
“I think now is the time to do that. We still have six or seven games to play with FC Dallas. And if the chance to go to Europe come by, that would be good.
“Certainly, it (the Eredivisie) is a competition where many young players play. I am still young and have a lot to learn.
“I would like to play at Real Madrid one day. Or Chelsea, or another big club. But the Dutch league has a lot of potential and is beneficial for young players. There is a lot of interest.”
Whether a move to Stamford Bridge is on the horizon remains to be seen, but even if it isn’t, proving yourself at Ajax first has never hurt anyone’s career in the past.
