Six months after initially arriving in the country from France, Allan Tchaptchet is today expected to sign his first professional contract with Southampton.

The French central defender will put pen to paper on Friday, which is also his seventeenth birthday, reports L’Equipe.

Formerly with the Auxerre youth system, the young footballer will sign a contract with Saints lasting until June 2021.

He’s currently playing for the U18 and U23 sides at different times, and in the latter he’s a teammate of another French youngster who L’Equipe have big hopes for, former Reims striker Enzo Robise.

At the age of 14, Tchaptchet was called up for the France U16 side, in September 2016. In the 2017/18 season, the teenage defender played for Sannois Saint-Gratien’s Under-17 side.

Last year Southampton took steps to improve their scouting of French youngsters, and Tchaptchet is a product of that.
