After Frank Lampard’s claims that N’Golo Kanté was ‘the best midfielder in the world’, Joey Barton decided to try and calm things down on Monday by being skeptical about the Chelsea midfielder, explaining he didn’t quite get the hype.

It’s understandable that many get carried away with the France international, who ha enjoyed two quite frankly incredible seasons in the Premier League so far, yet there’s always someone who takes it a step even further.

Full of awe for the Chelsea midfielder, Hosman Gangate, who currently works for the French Football Federation as a Regional Technical Advisor on the island of Reunion, couldn’t contain himself in an interview with L’Express this week.

The man who oversaw the development of West Ham’s Dimitri Payet on the French island said: “He’s out of this world. I don’t know how he does it! He’s extremely performant on the pitch and extremely humble off it. It’s nice to have footballers who don’t talk about their cars or their haircuts”.

Much like Dimitri Payet, N’Golo Kanté broke onto the big stage later than most in his career, and is now one of the most talked about footballers in the world, but for all the right reasons.

Scoring just two goals this season, both against Manchester United, the 25-year-old still has a long career ahead of him, yet, like Joey Barton, there are a few still doubting whether or not this form will continue.

As the Burnley midfielder explained, perhaps it’s best to wait for him to play Champions League regularly before getting too carried away.
