Tottenham boss Antonio Conte has hailed Harry Kane as a ‘player of the highest level’, insisting he’s seen the best of him straight away at the club.

Kane has endured something of a difficult season so far, with the goals and assists that were flowing last year sorely absent.

Getting him back to his best is one of the top priorities for Conte, with the English striker key to any success they are likely to have.

Fortunately, the Italian coach has a strong history of turning strikers into world-class players, with Romelu Lukaku the prime example of that during his two years at Inter Milan.

The Belgian arrived at Inter something of a broken man after his time at Manchester United, but Conte soon turned him into the goalscoring machine that earned himself a €100m move to Chelsea this summer

Tottenham will be hoping he can get a similar tune out of Kane and get the forward back to the kind of form that’s seen him dominate the Premier League goalscoring charts over the last few years.

Conte is certainly confident that is something he can do, saying he’s seen Kane’s quality from his first day at the club.

“He’s a player of the highest level,” he told Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“I’ve only had the pleasure of coaching him for a few days, but he’s a top player who understands everything right away.

“You tell him one thing, and a minute later, he puts it into practice. He has talent, quality, physique, a sense of goal, football intelligence. I’ve seen few like him.

“His dream is to win with Tottenham, and I want to help him achieve it.”
