With Diego Jota scoring his eighth goal of the season in Liverpool’s win over Leicester City on Sunday, the Portuguese press is back highlighting his good form with the Reds.
Outlet Record features a story today in which they call him ‘unstoppable’, and say ‘no one would have believed’ if someone said the winger would be having such a good start at Anfield.
Besides bringing the information on what makes Diogo Jota’s season so good, Record also managed to speak to João Carlos Teixeira, another Portuguese player who used to feature for Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp.
“It’s been an incredible start to the season, but not surprising for all the qualities he has. At Wolverhampton he showed that, but playing at Liverpool, with stars around him, things end up becoming even easier,” João Carlos Teixeira told Record.
On Jurgen Klopp, Teixeira said: “The style of play and the way Jurgen pulls on players is unique, but I believe he’d be successful in any way for the quality he has. He’s special for the personal relationship he has with the players, as well as for the tactical work.
“He’s a master. He manages to combine the two and that is what makes him so successful. He’s a person who likes to be in touch, in a good mood, it’s easy to have a good relationship with him.”
João Carlos Teixeira belonged to Liverpool for four years, but had a few loan spells, and only made eight appearances for the Reds’ first team. He left the Premier League side in 2016, and since then has played for Porto, Braga, Vitória Guimarães and Feyenoord, following his move to the Dutch side this summer.
