Michael Kayode made his debut for Brentford against Tottenham Hotspur a couple of weeks ago.

He arrived at the club on an initial loan deal with the option to buy after a frustrating season at Fiorentina where he played only five times in Serie A.

Andrea Ritorni, who is part of Kayode’s entourage from Vigo Global Sport, has now spoken to SportItalia about the defender.

He was asked about whether the youngster has the aim of returning to Italy after his time at Brentford. The Italian media instantly stat talking about a return anytime someone leaves the country, but Ritorni dismissed the possibility.

He said: “I think it’s premature to make this kind of speech, he arrived in England, where he’s happy and well.

“I don’t want to be a hypocrite and talk about what will happen, not having the magic ball. He’s happy to wear this shirt living a football culture completely different from ours, both inside and outside the stadium.”

Ritorni also spoke about Kayode’s suitability to the Premier League and English football.

He said: “For a player with his physical structure, his engine, his desire to work, I think the Premier League is ideal. There is very physical football there.

“Brentford was his first choice: it didn’t work out in the summer, in the winter it did. Obviously he has to work, clean up a bit from a technical point of view, improve. But he is 20 years old and has 15 years of career ahead of him.”

When asked about how he is finding life in the English capital, Ritorni said:

“He made his debut against Tottenham and on Saturday he faces West Ham. Thomas Frank is happy to be able to train him, now Mike has to roll up his sleeves, but he is ready, he is a worker and he is not afraid of anything.”

Ritorni also explained Kayode and his family speak English at home, indicating that will help him settle in to life in London.

“At home they always speak English in a wonderful family between his father, Antony, his mother Victoria and his brother Davide, this helps.”

There is regret in Italy that he left Fiorentina and how it all worked in Brentford’s favour.

Kayode has shown the ability to play at right-back and at centre-back and this will help him play regularly under Thomas Frank.
