Signed by Liverpool in the summer following a hiccup the previous January, Fábio Carvalho has hit the ground running at Anfield.
The 20-year-old already boasts two goals in six Premier League appearances, and while he might not be a regular starter just yet, he certainly has the potential to be a key player for the Reds in the future.
This is what his Liverpool teammate, Roberto Firmino, thinks of him, speaking about the young Portuguese starlet in an interview with O Jogo, who directly asked him about Carvalho.
He said, relayed by Noticias Ao Minuto: “He’s a great player. I confess that I had watched some of his games before he came to Liverpool, so I was already impressed by the way he played.
“He’s a star, he’s a great player and now he’s also a very close friend. We are happy to have him here at Liverpool and I know he will help us a lot, with assists, goals and also his character on the pitch.”
Carvalho opened his tally for Liverpool in the 9-0 drubbing of Bournemouth, and was decisive in their hard fought win against Newcastle United the following week, scoring the 98th minute winner.
Prior to his move to Anfield, the young midfielder had come through the ranks at Fulham, eventually making 44 appearances in all competitions for the Craven Cottage side, scoring 12 goals and picking up eight assists along the way.
