Internacional have now made public their desire to sign Gustavo Scarpa from Nottingham Forest.
As club president Alessandro Barcellos was on Tuesday interviewed by UOL, he was asked about their interest in the 29-year-old.
The Inter chief confirmed that the chase for the Nottingham Forest midfielder is real, but made it clear that the talks are not advanced for now.
“He’s a player we’re in a position to bring in, but it doesn’t just depend on Internacional. The market is moving and we usually only put names out there as long as they have a real chance of being here,” Barcellos told UOL.
“He’s a great player, who is certainly being sought after by several clubs in Brazil and even abroad, but in order for things to work out, this or any other negotiation to go ahead, we need to be careful so that we can be successful.”
Earlier this week, reports from Brazil claimed that Inter have been in talks with Scarpa for about a month, trying to convince him that he should return to his home country.
The midfielder is loaned by Nottingham Forest to Olympiacos until the end of the season, but it seems that none of the parties believe that could be a problem for a January move.
According to Globo Esporte, Nottingham Forest’s request for the sale is between €4.5m and €6m, and Brazilian sides should indeed have the budget to make that signing. It wouldn’t be surprising if even the Tricky Trees are hoping he says yes to that move.
