Once again criticised by English pundits for his performance against Atalanta, Paul Pogba was making his first appearance since getting sent off against Liverpool.

Manchester United managed to salvage a 2-2 draw against the Serie A side to keep their Champions League dream alive thanks to a Cristiano Ronaldo brace, but the Frenchman was taken off in the 69th minute for Nemanja Matic.

Pogba’s contract is currently due to expire at the end of June, and while there have been claims that a renewal could be agreed, that hasn’t happened yet, meaning his future is currently up in the air.

Mino Raiola has a hand in this, an agent Sir Alex Ferguson was always wary off, and Pascal Olmeta, a former goalkeeper in France, explained to RMC Sport that the Manchester United legend always expected something like this from Pogba.

He said: “I was invited to Manchester United training by Sir Alex Ferguson. I went there with two children from my charity. I had lunch with him and he told me about Paul Pogba, who was 17.”

“He told me: ‘You see this player, he will be extraordinary, full of talent. He will be at the top, but he is a dreamer, and if no one is there to show him the way, he will never make it’. It was a few years ago, and today, we are in this debate.”

It’s no secret that Pogba has a dream of playing for Real Madrid at one point in his career, and many view this opportunity as the best he will have to do that.

However, his current club, Manchester United, will do their utmost to either stop that from happening or ensure they are compensated for his departure.

For that to happen, though, they need to get his contract situation sorted.
