Arsenal owned midfielder Mohamed Elneny has spoken to Bein Sports Turkey and he believes Mesut Ozil could join Fenerbahce in the near future.
The 27 year old, who’s currently on loan with Besiktas, has previously said Ozil is a very close friend of his and was the reason he decided to join the Super Lig side.
Elneny said he thinks Ozil could move to Fener and that the German loves the Istanbul side: “Mesut really loves Fenerbahce. He’s always speaking about the club and the fans. If you ask me, I think he could come to Fenerbahce. He’s always trying to annoy me by singing Fenerbahce chants.”
Ozil was heavily linked with a move to Fenerbahce when Unai Emery was in charge at Arsenal. However, under Mikel Arteta the former Germany international has been getting regular football and he now looks relatively settled at the Emirates.
He’s made it no secret he’s a childhood Fenerbahce fan, previously stating he would love to play for the Yellow Canaries one day. That said, Ozil has also made it clear on repeat occasions that he’s determined to see out his contract with Arsenal.
The former Real Madrid midfielder has made 21 appearances this season in all competitions. His contract with the Premier League club will expire at the end of June 2021.
