Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is very likely in the air right now on his way to Manchester to start his new life as manager at Old Trafford, even if it’s only until the end of the season.
Jose Mourinho was sacked on Tuesday morning and the club announced they’d be appointing a caretaker for the rest of the campaign.
When it was also pushed to the media that the caretaker would be steeped in the history of Manchester United, and wasn’t anyone there now, then Solskjaer was the obvious candidate.
At first, the Norwegian media were cautious, probably not wanting to get too carried away, but they soon became hugely excited as the news was further firmed up.
Now it’s a big story in the country, and both TV2 and Dagbladet are reporting that a Learjet 45 is on the way to Manchester.
The plane arrived from the English city and first went to Stavanger, where the manager’s agent Jim Solbakken lives. It then stopped at Kristiansund, where Solskjaer is from, and is now on the way to Manchester.
