Following the recent reports from Italy linking Fiorentina defender Igor to a move to Brighton & Hove Albion, we now see this transfer getting encouraged in the local media.
Radio Firenze Viola today featured an interview with Roberto Gotta on their Palla Al Centro show. There, the English football expert gave his opinion on some moves that may take place between Serie A and Premier League clubs.
The quotes are brought by Firenze Viola, where Gotta claims Brighton would actually be a great destination for Igor.
He said: “It’s a hell of a team. De Zerbi manages to make his players perform so well. Igor would increase a fundamental sector, because Brighton build a lot with defenders and if a left-footed player were to arrive, it would be very useful.”
Igor had mostly been linked to Fulham lately, and it’s been clear that the Craven Cottage side are struggling to meet Fiorentina’s demands for the transfer.
On Friday morning, outlet La Nazione showed great optimism regarding the defender’s move to the Seagulls, claiming the first contacts have been made and the move could be done in the coming days.
Despite Fiorentina’s €25m request, Brighton are expected to offer €15m plus bonuses.
