Antwerp have a ‘famous puzzle to solve’ in the second leg of their Europa League clash with Rangers.
That’s according to former striker Patrick Goots, who believes the Belgian side will have to play on the front foot at Ibrox if they are to get through the tie.
Steven Gerrard’s side won the first leg meeting between the two sides 4-3, with a last-minute penalty handing them the advantage in the tie.
The game proved to be a backwards and forwards affair, with Rangers twice coming from behind in a fixture that proved to be far tougher than they may have anticipated.
Indeed, they have received plenty of criticism from Belgium since, with many claiming that they were not the better team in the game and lucky, given that two of their four goals were penalties.
Either way, Antwerp will have to make up the deficit in the second leg, something Goots can see being a major issue.
“Antwerp can be proud of the game delivered”, he told Gazet van Antwerpen.
“But it has to be hit with all those individual mistakes.
“Vercauteren didn’t think Rangers was better than Antwerp, but what struck me was that they had a lot more speed in the front.
“The best man, Ryan Kent, even started on the bench.
“I am the last to say that it is never possible, but how the hell are Antwerp going to keep the zero in Glasgow, while they have to score at least twice themselves.
“Antwerp will have to play forward so that the Rangers attackers can use their speed in space even more. That will be a famous puzzle to solve.”
