Stuttgart midfielder Alexandru Maxim was left out of the German side’s squad at the weekend, which could signal his time at the club is coming to an end. The Romania international has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the summer after the Championship side last month held talks with his agent.

Stuttgarter Nachrichten have reported Maxim is currently experiencing heavy times at Stuttgart following his emission from Hannes Wolf’s 19-man squad against FC Heidenheim. Maxim has struggled to get starts this season under Wolf, but he’s normally made the bench. However, this is a new low for the attacking midfielder, and it seems a move in the summer is on the cards.

It’s been reported he’s unlikely to move before the summer despite the Russian and Chinese transfer markets still being open. The German club are currently second in the table, and look on course to bounce back to the Bundesliga, so therefore aren’t willing to sell any players this month

Last month Leeds United held initial talks with his agent to sign Maxim. These talks with Leeds United were confirmed by the player’s agent, but at the time he said he only expected his client to move in the summer, and to a club that suited Maxim.

Stuttgart boss Wolf has also given Leeds United encouragement by confirming the German side would listen to offers for Maxim because he has several players who can play in his position.
