According to a claim in the Swedish media, Hearts are showing interest in Värnamo centre-forward Johnbosco Kalu.

The Scottish Premiership club will be looking to bolster their squad in this window following their struggles in the league this season. They now find themselves in a relegation battle after a poor first half of the season.

Fotboll Direkt have reported on Hearts’ pursuit for Kalu as they look to strengthen in attack this month.

It’s claimed Värnamo want in the region of £400k from selling the Nigerian attacker, but the Edinburgh club are likely to face competition to sign the 27-year-old.

The Swedish media outlet report Israeli club Beitar Jerusalem have already made an offer for the player, but this was rejected due to being insufficient.

Kalu is reportedly keen to find a new club which can only give Hearts and Beitar Jerusalem encouragement to sign him in this window.

He made 17 appearances in the recently concluded Allsvenskan season, scoring seven goals and providing one assist, and is contracted to Värnamo until December 2026.
