Amad Diallo will want to further cement his importance at Manchester United this season, hoping to get a regular starting spot under manager Erik ten Hag.
Even though he didn’t start against Liverpool, he showed glimpses of his ability for United after coming off the bench, and was perhaps the most exciting player for the Red Devils.
The winger went into the international break with a lot of excitement and expectation in the Cote D’Ivoire press.
The slant has now changed and Fraternite Matin state that the Manchester United player didn’t convince during games against Zambia and Chad. Especially against Zambia, the outlet note that the player was perhaps trying a bit too hard.
The newspaper states: ‘Especially against Zambia where he often made mistakes in his movements. Was he a victim of his desire to do too well? According to some observers, he paid the high price for a system that creaked a little with a confusion of roles between Oumar Diakité and him.’
Diallo certainly isn’t the subject of annoyance over the performances, with it felt like the expectation was too high around the 22-year-old, the manager failed to find a system to suit him, and that he was just putting himself under too much pressure.
That excitement is going to be hard to calm if Diallo continues to be picked for Manchester United, but he’ll be surrounded by club teammates who have faced similar pressure with their countries and can offer their experiences.
