It’s with some pressure that Real Madrid will be facing Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League on Wednesday.

The local press were harsh on the team’s performance against Girona, as Zinedine Zidane’s side lost 2-1 in Catalunya, and now stay eight points behind Barcelona and four from Valencia.

Losing to Tottenham at Wembley would see Mauricio Pochettino’s men as favourites to top the group, so it’s a tough week.

Spanish TV does interesting work analysing player reactions during the game, and during Madrid’s weekend loss, they caught Marcelo arguing with Luka Modric after one of Girona’s goals.

In a story where they call Isco the only player who fought for a win, they focused on the negative attitudes of several players. Marcelo said: “You say that I’ve messed up… and you haven’t?”

Marcelo and Modric seem fined with each other a few minutes later, but that was enough for several outlets, including AS, to say there have been other moments like this, especially involving Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Isco.

Real Madrid won’t have all the players available for the game at Wembley, as Raphael Varane and Isco have both missed training this Monday, along with Keylor Navas and Gareth Bale, who have been recovering from injuries.

With the team’s main star Cristiano Ronaldo not scoring in the past two games, Real Madrid don’t expect an easy game against Tottenham, who they only managed to score against due to the penalty won by Toni Kroos at the Santiago Bernabeu.
