Fenerbahce president Ali Koc spoke to the media yesterday and confirmed the Turkish side will be looking for a new manager before the start of the season after they parted ways with interim boss Emre Belozoglu.
During the press conference, Koc was asked about Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa, who has been loosely linked with a move to Fenerbahce in the last couple of months.
Koc confirmed they haven’t made any contact with the Argentine manager and added, as covered by Milliyet: “We are being linked with a move for Bielsa. But we haven’t made any contact with him. But it’s true that we are looking for a manager of his calibre. We’ll see what happens. I hope we will be able to announce our new manager in three weeks.”
Bielsa has enjoyed a fantastic debut campaign in the Premier League with Leeds United and it seems the chances of Fenerbahce getting him are looking extremely slim.
The former Athletic Bilbao man guided the Elland Road club to 9th in the Premier League after an absence of 16 years from the English top flight, when they won the Championship title in 2020.
His work at the club has led to speculation of him moving on this summer, with other clubs linked with him, including Fenerbahce.
