Nearly a year ago, Yaser Asprilla was leaving Watford as a potential star for the future and ready to make the next big step.

Now, he’s on the back of a difficult first year at Girona and there’s plenty of disappointment about the matter.

That’s if the latest from Sport is anything to go by, with the newspaper explaining that it ‘hasn’t been a good season for Yáser Asprilla. They explain that amid a disappointing season for Girona too, the Colombian has been unable to make the difference that many were hoping he would make.

His arrival from Watford for €18m last summer was an exciting one but instead he’s managed just three goals and one assist.

The impression he’s left is that he could be an important player next season, but he needs to change some things in his game if he is to be decisive week after week.

There’s been flashes of his ability and what might come in future, but not often enough to make the move in the summer transfer window one that can be considered a success.

The hope is that next season will be one of a return to form for him and Girona, to help justify the €18m paid to Watford last summer and dispel some of the doubts after his first year.
