Harry Kane certainly wasn’t himself against Arsenal at the weekend, as Tottenham lost 2-0 to their London rivals.
The England international had been resting during the recent break for national team games, but it still seemed clear Kane was carrying at least some degree of physical issue.
Therefore, it may not have been a huge surprise for Mauricio Pochettino to leave the striker at home as Tottenham fly out to Germany to face Borussia Dortmund, and given him some further time to recover ahead of the busy winter schedule.
However, in a chat with German newspaper Bild, Kane has made it clear he’s looking forward to the match, and it certainly sounds like he expects to be playing in it.
In an interview which was given on Sunday, Bild asked Kane if he’s ‘fit and hungry’ for Dortmund, and the Tottenham striker answered: “Yes, and I’m looking forward to the game. I was able to train fully and played against Arsenal yesterday. This will be a mega game in Dortmund in a stunning stadium with fantastic fans. I’m looking forward to it and cannot wait.”
Tottenham are having an excellent Champions League campaign and go into the Dortmund match not too long after convincingly beating Real Madrid. Winning the group should give Pochettino’s men an easier draw in the next round, but it’s not guaranteed and Tottenham will need Kane and their other big stars in their best form for the knockout stages.
But, as far as Kane seems concerned, that doesn’t involve a rest this week.
