Helsingborg defender Andreas Granqvist has told the Swedish media it will be difficult to turn down a move to Manchester United.

The 33 year old has been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks as Jose Mourinho looks to bolster his defensive options in the new year.

Sport Bladet have reported on comments Granqvist made to podcast Road to the Top when asked about a potential move to Manchester United: “Should a club like Manchester United show an interest in January, it will be very hard to say no. It’s great to even be mentioned with a big club like Manchester United, it’s incredibly flattering. It’s a sign that I did a very good World Cup.

“I was incredibly pleased with my performances in 2018. We’ll see what happens. I do not think it’s so great, but there’s certainly something behind it. Then we’ll see how much interest is in January.”

In October we covered claims from Sweden that Granqvist was an option for Manchester United when the transfer window opens.

With the Swedish top flight set to end in the coming weeks the English club are reportedly exploring the idea of loaning the Sweden captain in the same way they did with Henrik Larsson in 2007.

Granqvist has formed a decent partnership with Victor Lindelöf with the Swedish national team which could be the thinking over this possible move.
